Quitting is Good

On Friday I decided not to take a rapidly approaching audition that I don’t feel adequately prepared to win.  I have long since passed the point in my career when I would take an audition for "experience".  No ma’am, I’ve already got plenty of experience losing auditions, thank you very much.  I have spent considerable time preparing for this particular audition, but I had very little trouble making the decision to forgo the actual event.  The inspiration to quit dawned on me like a ray of sunshine during a rehearsal on Friday morning.  "Hey" I randomly thought, "I don’t have to go to Pittsburgh."  And then a shiver of pure joy swept through me and I knew I was on to something good.

This morning I sang this song about the audition in the shower:

"I’m not going to take it!
I’m not gonna take it!
I’m not gonna take it anymore!"

I have found that when my life can be easily set to the tune of a Twisted Sister song, I should rest easy and relax, because everything is going to turn out just fine.
